Group A polling finished yesterday, with Tanzania and Nepal progressing to the knockout stages of the World Cup of Emerging Jerseys!

Group B action pits two Scottish kits together, Vanuatu and Nigeria in a competitive poll that could well come down to a handful of votes!

Note: Jerseys are the current kits used by both men’s and women’s teams unless stated.

There is something about flags and adaptations on playing kit, and Scotland went with a similar approach to Kenya at the same World Cup, which they co-hosted.

Gavin Hamilton dominated in the kit, top-scoring in four out five Scotland innings at the tournament, though the Scots failed to taste success in the tournament.

One of the more memorable shirts at the 2015 World Cup was almost a no-show, with Scotland’s kit manufacturer sending the shirts Down Under late for the tournament. After sweating on their shipment, the Scots did get to play every match in their tartan sleeves, in a nod to the (literal) fabric of their proud history.

Vanuatu

Vanuatu got a lot of attention for holding live sport over the weekend, as one of few countries around the world able to host any action. Their national team kit, shared by both the men’s and women’s team also stands out – a predominantly green kit but also featuring other colours of their national flag, with a floral trim along the sleeves.

Competing in the ICC Challenge League when international cricket returns, Vanuatu’s bright colours will grace our streams, though for the moment the vibrancy of their domestic game has enjoyed hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Nigeria

A nation famed for ‘breaking the internet’ when releasing football shirts, it was almost inevitable that when Nigeria first arrived on the world cricket stage they were going to bring a cracker. In fact, they brought two!

It was the yellow and green alternate kit, however, that turned most heads. Diagonal halves of yellow and two-tone green striped, fading in dark green. It was both simple and intricate, bold and reserved and stood out wherever they went. They may not have won any games at the tournament, but their story and their kit universally won hearts.

EC World Cup of Jerseys Format and How to Vote

This is group A in our World Cup, with two advancing from each group to the round of 16, where kits will then go head-to-head to crown a winner. Kits from the same nation must be drawn together and polls will be done via Twitter and Facebook.

Make sure you are a member of our Facebook Group and follow our Twitter pages to maximise your voting power when we post out the polls!
