Today, Pieter Seelaar, the Netherlands captain was announced as an Emerging Cricket Ambassador, just three days out from the first delivery of the 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier.

The 32-year-old joins Kyle Coetzer and Assad Vala, captains of Scotland & PNG respectively, as well as PNG all-rounder Norman Vanua who all fly the EC flag around the world.

“My main motivation is to provide the fans and followers of Emerging Cricket with inside knowledge which is true and fair. Besides that, I think I can help to grow our game outside the Full Member arena through endorsing EC.

“I think its important that the ‘Associate game’ gets the attention it deserves. Also I think its vital that news that is communicated about the game is also true and fair…and not as sometimes seems to be made up or unjustified,” Seelaar said, less than a week after playing his 100th limited overs international for his country.

Leading up to a global qualifier, the left-arm spinning all-rounder spoke of what the event means to his side.

“This event is very important to Dutch cricket. After qualifying for the CWC Super League, I think its important we also get to represent ourselves at every possible World Cup. The exposure you get as a nation worldwide is crucial for development of the grass roots of cricket back home.”

Pieter Seelaar’s appointment continues Emerging Cricket’s mission to create a global community of Ambassadors providing unprecedented access to cricket’s new world.

The Netherlands open their campaign in Group A at ICC Academy Ground 1 at 10am local time against Kenya on Friday.
